Holidays 2020- Top 5 Décor Trends

It is that time of the year again! Can you believe it? We know the holidays may feel a little bit different this year, but nothing brings the spirit like home décor. Even if you’re staying low key for the holidays, going all out on the décor is a great way to bring cheer and a little normalcy back into your life. Here are our picks for the Top 5 Holiday Décor Trends of 2020:

1. NATURAL & NEUTRAL

This may sound boring, but it is anything but! Natural and neutral home décor has been a trend for a while now, and of course it has spilled into the holidays. Think minimal, white, gray, natural wood tones and farmhouse neutrals. This holiday aesthetic is contemporary and sophisticated, and it looks fabulous when it already matches your home décor. Plus, it’s very light and playful, which are feelings we definitely need around the holidays and especially after this year.

2. BLUE CHRISTMAS

If you are not really into the neutral look, but don’t necessarily love the classic red and green, blue décor may be perfect for you. We love blue for the holidays because it is timeless, calming and symbolizes peace and stability. To keep things modern and warm, avoid icy blue and glittery accents. Instead try warmer toned blues like deep navy and indigo. For a truly down-to-earth feeling, look for soft and even hand dyed items, like tablecloths, linens and tree skirts.

3. SUSTAINABLE SEASON

Everything is going green and sustainable, including the Holiday season. It’s hard to make our entire lives and homes completely sustainable and reusable, but it’s important to try wherever we can. A major contributor to waste during the Holiday season is traditional, single use wrapping paper. As an alternative, try furoshiki wrapping cloths or cloth gift bags that can be reused for many years. You will feel great knowing that you made a difference, and the receiver will feel extra special opening a beautiful, luxuriously wrapped gift.

4. LET IT (FLOCKED) SNOW

Flocked Holiday décor has been around forever, but it’s majorly popular for 2020. Transform your home into a magical, winter wonderland with flocked artificial trees, wreaths, and garland. This trend pairs perfectly with the natural and neutral décor trend to create a truly elevated and glamorous look. You’ll definitely be sad come January when it’s time to put it all away!

5. DOOR DECOR

You may not be welcoming many people into your home this Holiday season, so perhaps you would rather focus on exterior décor to spread the cheer. All out (but tasteful) front door décor is a big trend this year. We recommend going for a theme and keeping things balanced. Larger décor pieces like wreaths, statues, planters, and accessories are great to use because they can be seen from the street and make a big impact. Since this is outside, you can try something different without worrying if it will match your interior décor.

It’s especially important this Holiday Season to have a little fun no matter how or what you celebrate. Tag us on Facebook @birgit.anich.staging or Instagram @ba_staging_interiors if you try any of these décor trends this year.
We’re wishing you and your families a happy and healthy Holiday Season
